Welcome to La Costa Cafe, where rich coffees and Latin American flavors meet the warmth of community. Our story is one of passion, perseverance, and a love for bringing people together through exceptional food and hospitality.

At the heart of La Costa Cafe is the Chef and Owner, Ignacio Ortega, whose journey began in Mexico and led him to the United States at the age of 16. Starting as a dishwasher, he immersed himself in the world of hospitality, working his way up through the ranks in some of San Francisco's most renowned restaurants. From the hustle of the kitchen to the intricacies of management and the imaginative opportunity of hosting personal cooking classes and catering events, Ignacio's dedication and skill have prepared him for his first brick and mortar adventure: LA COSTA CAFE. Ignacio’s other half, Lys, has always dreamed of opening a bakery & flower shop and loves to bake as much as Ignacio loves to cook. While her outside full time work as a resident physician at UC Davis keeps her from the cafe during the week, she leads La Costa’s coffee & pastry programs and is Ignacio’s second hand, always working behind the scenes to make your experience at La Costa Cafe the best it can be.

La Costa Cafe is more than a cafe; it's a celebration of stories, a fusion of cultures, and a tribute to the immigrant experience. Ignacio draws inspiration not just from his own journey but also from the diverse narratives of immigrants who have made the U.S. their home. Our menu reflects this collective experience, offering an authentic array of dishes inspired by the flavors of Latin America, infused with the nostalgia and love of home.
